Luke
Kreinberg has traveled the career landscape propelled by a desire
to serve his talents and skills and develop his full powers. Dissatisfied
by the accepted philosophy of 'making a living' and increasingly aware
that there is more to work than earning a living, he became convinced
that life is too short not to be enjoyed in every aspect of its multifaceted
wonder. His decision was either to continue unhappily and unfulfilled
in a well-paying, but otherwise empty job, or to take a leap of faith
in himself and follow his calling. This is how Work In Progress was
born, and how Luke found the place in which he could be who he is,
while earning a living.
Luke's eclectic journey has included working for
Chez Panisse, doing sales and marketing for numerous high-tech companies
and start-ups, launching new products, developing customer support
services, and creating online training for a project management
enterprise. As an entrepreneur, Luke opened First Step Publishing,
his own publishing company, in partnership with Papyrus and Barnes
& Noble to develop a line of theme journals. He is the author
of The Book of Goals, initially self-published but later picked
up and distributed by Barnes & Noble. This simple guide to the
achievement of pers
onal goals has sold more than 100,000 copies
since it first was printed. Along the way, Luke was also involved
in coaching North Oakland Little League (NOLL) and mentoring students
at Berkeley High School.
Eventually, Luke realized that his calling was in
his talent for nurturing other's skills and for guiding them to
developing their own talents. Having worked in the high-tech, publishing
and music industries, as well as in the academic environment, he
has developed deep insight into the many different types and combinations
of careers and jobs that are possible. And, during the 40 years
he has lived in the Bay Area, he has continually created and developed contacts
and networks in many fields. Luke
has been involved in career counseling since 1989 and is currently
employed by the Academy of Art University as an Academic/Career
Coach. He received a Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF)
certification from the State of California in 2004. He is a Phi
Beta Kappa from the the University of California, Davis, receiving
a B.A. in International Relations. At the San Francisco Renaissance
he learned the tools needed to become an entrepreneur |
